Aftercare Advice

Tips before you arrive for your tattoo:

  • Get an early night! Sleep rocks and this will ensure your well prepared mentally and physically.

  • Make sure to eat something - this will keep your energy levels up and can help your pain tolerance.

  • Keep out of the sun and refrain from having any skin treatments at the tattoo site that could cause sensitivity.

  • Keep the skin clean, exfoliated and moisturised leading up to the tattoo to remove dead skin and keep skin healthy- it helps the ink go in and helps us to achieve better results.

  • Please talk to your tattoo artist before using any numbing cream, as some numbing creams can negatively effect the skin.

  • Make sure that you have someone to look after your children. Tattoo studios are full of potential hazards, over 18's only.

  • Please make sure to bring photo ID with you. We will have to refuse to do your tattoo if you cannot prove that you are over 18. We only accept government-issued photo identification.

   Aftercare Instructions:

  • Leave cover on for a minimum of 24 hours and up to 48 hours.

  • Excess ink and body fluid may seep out from the tattoo, this is normal so there's no need to worry. However, if it becomes so saturated that you can no longer see the tattoo, or if the build up is excessive, then remove the cover.

  • Take it easy the next day and don’t use the limb that has been tattooed too much to avoid issues healing.

  • Remove cover and gently clean tattoo with cooled boiled water after around 48hrs.

  • Apply aftercare once you have removed the cover and cleaned the tattoo. You will need to reapply aftercare twice per day. We provide aftercare cream in the studio and can recommend suitable products. Please consult us before using any aftercare products we have not recommended, as unapproved products may negatively impact the healing process and result in loss of tattoo ink.

  • After the initial clean when removing the cover, try not to get your tattoo wet as this can cause scabs to come off too early and lead to loss of tattoo ink. Whilst showering, also try not to get excess soaps and products into your tattoo and do not scrub or exfoliate your tattoo.

  • Do not soak the tattoo in the bath or participate in water activities such as swimming. Avoid using sauna, steam room, sun beds etc. You cannot do any of these activities for 3 weeks.

  • Avoid wearing clothing on the tattoo that is likely to rub the tattoo as this can cause scabs to be removed too early which can lead to loss of tattoo ink. Clothes can also harbour bacteria, so make sure that any materials that come into contact with the tattoo are clean to reduce risk of infection.

  • Avoid contact with dirt, pets, raw meats or any kind of harmful bacteria that may cause infection.

  • Avoid direct contact with the sun for a minimum of 3 weeks.

  • Once your tattoo has fully healed:
       - Continue to keep clean and out of the sun. After the initial 3 week healing period, if your tattoo does come into contact           with the sun, we recommend using SPF 50 sun cream as UV can damage your tattoo.

       - We recommend keeping the tattoo moisturised  as this will help to rejuvenate the skin and keep your tattoos looking               vibrant and fabulous forever!
